When I Was A Pretty Young Girl

I was a pretty young girl once
at twelve, Halloween.
My parents dressed me so
and pressed me to go out
when I turned shy of it

Somewhere there is a picture

I remember the men’s eyes
just before they realized

Ed... There are some things from childhood that just burn in the memory.  This one feels bitter-sweet.

You look back at a picture of you... only to shift the focus so we're looking at the picture you've painted of others and taking a look at ourselves.

I like this very much, my friend... even though it leaves a bit of sadness. *S*

Got a little taste of the other side of the coin? You must have been awfully brave to do that.

Unless you wore pantyhose and heels...you just didn't get the full effect...

Can we see that picture?

I ain't sayin' exactly what I wore.....

And no, I didn't get teased...at least not nearly as much as the kid my age who made a pass at me before he realized who I was....in front of a half-dozen other boys and within range of about twenty grown-ups at the church social.....HE REEEALLLY heard it!
