~* With Every Breath *~

Fall is ~ my time of tears,
Intermingled with colors bold.
The time of year my heavy heart
Re-reads stories it was told.

I head toward the beckoning forest,
Crackling color of sierra, and gold.
Each leaf dies to be reborn ~
As another story will enfold.

Sauntering down the forest path,
Crisp leaves lips covered in gloss,
I realized my steps were silent,
As my tears mingled with the moss.

With each step devoid of light
The silence screechs and amplifies.
My sanctum ground does surround,
Our union simply intensifies.

With every breath and each gaze
Through haze the trees now tower.
Feelings of their protection rise
I feel no need to even cower.

A glimpse of sky brushed canopy,
Moss drapes pulled gently aside,
The testament to why I come, then sit
To work out what hurts inside.

Soon rainforest precipitation
Finds my soul so deep and still,
Cleansing the place I hide inside
Strengthening again my will.

Where it not for the forest, its history,
Times of joy and laughter once found here,
It would be simply just impossible
For me to gaze at reflection’s mirror.

How grateful am I this heavenly day
For all the gifts I have abound.
So, when I’m feeling sad or lost
I go deep into this forest to be found.

It's so good to see you posting again...even if it is resonant of melancholy...it is indeed beautiful, and haunting...

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Sharon, this touched my heart so deeply because when I was a little boy, I had no friends because in elementary school everyone picked on me and boys beat me up and psychologically broke my heart, and the only friends I had were with nature, and I always went to the park and chased butterflies and petted puppies and loved seeing the colors of the leaves and playing in the leaves and that was the only thing that made me smile along with having stuffed animals to sleep with! (wipes tears) Your poetry is always gleaming with purity, sweet friend, God Bless You, and I continue to send angel hugs to you and all your family, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Donna - thanks for reading this - actually it sprang from the picture (love her art.)

Sunshine - That's me alright Melancholy Martha these days

Noah - Well - you keep petting puppies, playing in the leaves (I do!), and forgot those people who just don't understand, and pray for them as someday they just might understand, and need a sweet friend like you?  Your comments are very special to me Noah, thank you.

Toerag - I wish!  I wish! LOL

Enchantress - Thank you, I will try to get back in the "groove" as it were, as I love Fall and all that nature gives this time of year.

Sharon, this is absolutely beautiful...and I'm keeping it, too. I love the graphics, too. They just set off your beautiful poem.

Garysgirl - Listen you are not doing too badly yourself with your poetry of late, I am really enjoying it (sorry I didn't leave a note but I did read, and especially liked your re-posting the other day).

Sharon,
I recognize the forest path, the view, the feelings and the results but could never express as you have so well here. Proof I don't have to visit the forest to be blessed by it thanks to you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Sharon

Nature does this for me too...especially Michelle's mountain..a place to restore and to find peace.  This is such an inspirational poem..makes me want to take a drive up.  Perhaps tomorrow I will.  Your spirit is so special!

this was so bittersweet and sensative, I could feel every word, and yes, yes, yes, my friend, make hay while the sun shines.  Smiles and hugs and thank you dearly for such a lovely poem with beautiful images written all over the entire poem.
