Before my eyes the veils of time
entwine like spider webs
soft and subtle, touching me,
drawing me aside
and holding in a dream
the thought of you and I.

Beneath and far below
the foundation of my breath
harsh the fear that shivers
in the sunlight hurting me
as to the ground I stretch
one arm of who I was.

Untouched, withdrawn,
the middle core,
awaits in anxious mode
the wrath of storms,
the summer rain,
or what ere may it befall.

Held by the will aloft
but in the heat too soon to wilt
sways a human being
in the breeze of cruelty
hungry to devour
the outer to the inner.

And the wind, and the wind,
armed with bayonets
endlessly patrols
skin’s weakened barrier
till through a heart it blows
the pain of missing you.

At the start now long ago
un-stretched and inward bound
no wind, rain, or pain of days,
no sadness, fear, regret,
and I think of this and other things
when mirrored I reflect
my eyes, my smile, my love,
into the heart of you
to see, to feel, receive and keep,
memories of you – and me.
