Death and Hope I see Death,that old black knight. He beckons me to his endless night. I have much to do,thinks are planned! He shakes his head and grasps my hand, And points my way to his silent land. Surely there can be some delay? Ways by which I can extend my stay? He shakes his head,I must come away. Slowly now as all men must, My body turns from flesh to dust. A plaything for some wayward gust. I had hope of Eternal Life, Free of sickness and of strife. Beyond death some pure new light ? As my final breath draws near, I start to see those I once held dear. Joyfully now I may banish fear. How good it is these friends to see This sprit ,once flesh ,is newly me. Dear God I place my trust in thee! arthur 10/03 |
