Solo for flute, in any minor key

Once this pilgrim
   hefts that pack
and heads down the glory track
This old shack won’t see me back,

     because I’m gone.

The siren asphalt calls
-Can you hear the rubber whining?-
I can’t breathe inside four walls
     -See the blessed miles unwinding?-

There’s a drumbeat
in the night that says, ‘alone’,
as my fingers grip the wheel
        I sing along,
           and the only time
              I find myself at home

     is when I’m gone.

I didn't make the transition to a minor key until the ending... somber tones now linger in the air. *S*

I like this very much!

EA-thanks. I always want to paint a picture, usually of one moment.

Seymour-I'm glad you liked it.

Margherita, Thanks.

Maureen, I know it's a bit sad, but freedom is exhilerating too.

Marge, and you're so nice!

bb-glad you like it.
