The green woodlands.

Gliding on silent wings,
twisting,turning,diving,
the silver, ghost like bird flies.

Golden grassland, waves of slender stems sway in the breeze,
hunting bird flies low, through the evening skies.

Unwary voles and mice, caught by dagger like talons,
slung low beneath a body of purest white.

Pouncing silent, with agile eye, mind and wings,
death is inevitable.
Arriving ontop the rodent, out of it's sight.

Borne away for chicks, or swallowed whole on nearby favourite perch.
Wildest creature of the air, and beautiful bird, i love you.

In darkest, coldest winter, my thoughts are of you.
Have you been able to feed today?
Nights of frost, fields of silver, skies of snowy blue.

Have you seen jack-in -the green he taps his cain on the ground and signals the snowdrops it's time to grow.

barn owls are my favorite birds as well.

They are so beautiful and graceful,

Jack,

Reading your poetry is like being inside
a bird santuary.Sometimes through your poetry you allow me to see through their eyes, feel through their feelings. I have a very fond appreciation for all birds, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, goldfinches, robins, etc.

Have you ever heard
the sound of an owl's wing
on the wind?

You barely know they are there.

Enjoyed, very much!
