Softly petals fall
   {this rose wilting}
floating on shimmering pond.

Lily pads drift by
{like memories of time}

I lose myself
in flickers of light
pirouetting on waters edge

reflections of the past
{when you loved me}

in soft want this sigh
      escapes
my heart

yesterday slips away

{images fade}

and I cling
to the warmth
you have left
    in my soul...

It's better than I could have planned..
it's made me who I am...
{Trace Adkins}

Donna, with your gentle, poetic talent, you are able to convey that there is a certain sweetness even in melancholia.

oh man ... heart drumming in my ears, pounding in my chest, wanting to cry "I love you, I love you!" for anyone who could remain in yesterday - for you.

Absolutely beautiful, beautiful write GS, and I did not "sugar coat" this comment.

Donna,  you and your poem,  this poem in
particular...  are certainly well matched
with your pen name...  You are a gentle
spirit...who writes so gently...touching
our spirit.

very lovely Donna,  a bit different from your classic rhymes.... I like this style on your pen, a beautiful, delicate offering.

You're the color of the sky reflected in each store-front window pane ...
You're the whispering and the sighing of my tires in the rain.

Hi, Gentle Spirit!

This work is beautiful.

I like the mood it creates.

"in soft want this sigh
      escapes
my heart"

Oft do I experience this to be so.

Cordially,

Oh Jesus Donna, I do this all the time
My God your words are beauty
perfection, this emotion, held here
and yes so bittersweet indeed
Much Love
