Listen With Open Ears

When you see someone who is sad
Take time to listen with open ears
Show them that you really care
And you may lessen some tears

Once they have been beaten down
Being told that no one cares
Whatever they may be going through
They will not be so quick to share

It is a lonely life to live
Not having anyone there
To show that they understand
Or that they even care

To know that someone else may care
May lessen the pain they have inside
Years of pain inflicted in the past
May soon begin to subside

So true... That is one of the reasons I enjoy poetry - it is a tool of comfort and support.
