In infants it was tested that if language is inverted or spoken incorrectly, it will not be recorded in the cortex of the brain, but when spoken correctly, the first synapses promoting thought are made. So what does this say about: poetry language silence A gurgling brook at dawn. A rainbow trout leaping to catch a mayfly in its jaws. Is it the slapping of the surface? And what word then from a mayfly first having only one day to live. Silence you say is like depression. A stillborn child will hear nothing will feel nothing. So what then do you make of the voice in the wind, in the sound of a few dry leaves blown across the pavement. If you watch cornstalks before a storm, you will find them stretching their leaves to the sky, exposing their underbellies. The cricket would tell you if you permit, when frost will first arrive. You have not been watching. You have not been listening. Whosoever might steal the song from a songbirds throat, make note for note a cadence. With tongues like tulips, stamen to pistil, pistil to stamen, dancing couples know when and how to step. A mother will wake at night attending to her child before hearing the first cry. You worry too much. When it rains those who have been shot will experience muffled pain, just as a man whose arm was amputated will reach out to grab a glass from the counter with what is no longer there. |

Thanks for the comment. It has been a long time since I was here last. Whatever happened to the adult sections? I have some poetry I would have posted there being it is of mature content, but that ability seems lost now. Are you allowed to post those poems on this forum. I am perplexed. So this is what happens when you take a long leave of absence. Ha... Thanks again. Ciao |

B.A., all I can say is that I wish I could have written this. I'm grateful that you did. Our forums were down for a few days. If you go to Mature Content, you will be able to post in Insights. Ron is bringing up the remaining forums as time [and recovery] is allowed. We're so glad to have you back again! [This message has been edited by Lady In White (10-20-2003 09:33 AM).] |

OSNL this is so very beautiful, I don’t get in here as often as I should, but just occasionally someone whispers into my ear that there’s a particularly beautiful piece illuming the board. I’m glad I came and listened to the whisper of wonder that is this superb poem as always Mushy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

I am grateful that someone shared your poem with me. But more so, I am grateful that you wrote it. It is filled with much to think about and in my humble opinion, a poem that brings delight or makes one want to read it again and again, is a brilliantly written piece. Thank you! Hugs, Marti Hear Blessings dropping their blossoms all around you. |

I love movies that are psycological thrillers, and this felt a little like that. A bit Hitchcockian, but not in a freakish way...just that feel of psycological edge..digging into the psyche! WOW. Love, Terr~ ![]() |

Wow, I really didn't expect this much of a response on the poem. Thank you all for your kind words. I was unsure of the poem myself. I suppose one does not always have the best outlook over his/her own poetry. I have been quite busy with papers and exams... university life. I will try to come around to comment more when I get the time. Once again, thank you. |
