Acknowledging Imperfections

At first blush,

a blemish, seen,

and the perfectionist
turns his eye
"not good enough"

but

the dilettante
with tender touch,
blesses the rose
and all yet
to unfold

what blush
of one
unseen
by a purist,
whilst an amateur
would gaze
in awe.

I would be that dilettante. The only perfect flowers I've ever seen were made of plastic, and the only perfect flower scents I've smelled were made from chemicals in a lab.

I'll take real, thank you!

He is a fool, for it is in subtle imperfections where beauty and love is found.  Who wants a carbon copy?

This is spectacular work in every way.  A keeper, my friend.  Hmmm...this one supercharged me to get writing again...let's pray for a peaceful eve so that I can scribble out something...anything.  LOL

Yes Kj...the perfectionist would certainly
never see the true delicate form of the
most beautiful rose..

And I hope that this does inspire our friend
who is just aching to write....fly muse,
find the damsel in distress....and fuel
the poetic fires....

Oh yes...I believe this also.
Give me one imperfect rose rather than a dozen perfect uninteresting ones.
It's like watching a sunset..the most perfect to me would be the one with streaks of clouds passing in front...or a flight of geese...beautiful!
Nicely written Karilea.

You've given us a beautiful presentation... and much to think about. *S* The perfectionist loses out on a lot. *S*

(smiles) Oh Karilea, this is beautiful, sweet friend, I love irregularity and imperfection; I believe we are all special and we most celebrate diversity, thus I always love finding relationships in all sorts of random things and celebrating their unique characteristics! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Karilea...To me, it is the truth of what you say, that makes so much beautiful.

The perfectionist, looking for the blemish, so often misses the beauty under his or her nose. I hope I may instead be the poet, looking for the beauty past the blemishes. Thank you for this poem, Karilea.
