The Second Choice In a relationship what happens to a person when they realize that they are the second choice? When they understand that the other person is only half heartenly admiring them, not whole heartenly desiring them? Are they destined to assume their position? Do they learn to cope during their transition? What role is expected of a person that wants to be loved and accepted but finds themselves lowly and rejected? Does it destroy dreams and sabotage goals? Does it eat away at a persons very heart and soul? Yes I'm afraid it does. Surely I know. JamesLee October16 2003 |

Mmm now I have to rethink my answer to the first poem. Being second choice? I couldn't live with that. Being first choice but her afraid...yes that I can live with. Dang there are to many unanswered questions. Friends? Good friends? I leave this one up to the others. Sad problem! Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

I would rather be admired than only desired... though both would be preferable. M |

What is first choice?? I mean really, isn't it just who you want first at the time? Things change and so do people..my first choice a year ago..I wouldn't want now..... Maybe whomever this is needs time to heal from what they thought was their first choice. Anyway...lol..I think I got carried away..but hey, I enjoyed the write! Susan |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh James, it is indeed so heartaching, too many forsake their dreams after a first heartbreak and I wish for all these frozen hearts to reconsider and love again! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet James, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! I wouldn't want to be second choice...that to me would be setting for disaster/heartbreak and not want any of us really wants...do we? |

Thank you all for your interesting responses...unfortunately I did settle for a woman who regarded me as her second choice...many years ago...she was still in love with Phil...the results were not endearing...someday I'll get over this...won't I...James |
