In thirty-six days
I’ll be a day older
Than you ever were
I never considered you
My role model, but
I’ll have none then.
Nothing to watch, see
And know it’s not me.

There are some who say
I have your face
I guess they don’t know
I can’t seem to erase
Explosions of anger
Distortions from displeasure
Never good enough glares
So seldom a smile.

But perhaps there would be
A certain form of justice
If the child you called ugly
Became your mirror.
If time had been kinder
Would you have stopped
Grieving all I’m not
And enjoyed what I am?

I know what formed you
But we can make choices
Not repeat wrongs done to us
Commit to break the cycle
Make sure good memories
Sit side by side with
Times of work and struggle
Leave lessons, not bruises.

I doubt we’d be friends
But I wish we'd been given
Opportunity to know
And a chance to ask why.

(big hugggssssssss) No child in my heart is ever ugly, and surely I would hate personally to have someone else's face or complexion because then behind the papier-mache you can never discover the justifications why! (sad sigh) I send angel hugs your way, sweet friend, this is a deep and heartfelt write, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Suthern, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

oh damn ..........
*heavy sigh*
"ponderings" is too gentle of a word for expressions that knock the wind out of the reader...
but then thats the way it should be when we write from places so deep.

Oh -- rending! Sometimes we grow by watching and changing ourselves to match an exemplary person, and sometimes we grow by watching and changing ourselves because we see that person for what they are. This heartbreak is one that can't be outgrown, but it can be mastered, and in this excellent poem you show how. Well done.

Thank you...I know I am not alone. You could have dedicated this to me, and I wonder now  how many others.

You set free a few tears that needed release.

M'toe: Your heart is so kind... I thank you! *S*

Seymour: You're good to me... thank you! *S*

JM: You're right. *S* But the filters would have zapped a more accurate title. *G* Thank you so much. *S*

Jamie: I learned from a friend. *S* So if this passes that insight on along, I'm truly grateful... Thank you so much! *S*

Martie: I wish that place would hush! LOL Thank you!

Patricia: This is one I almost didn't post... and then nearly deleted once it was posted... I'm not real comfortable with its existence. *S* So knowing it meant something to you helps me tremendously... I thank you!

wow, powerful stuff...

i think that it's brainless to assume that making changes to your window's view will gain a new perspective.

Oh, this touched my heart, sweet suthern lady....
all of it did, so I won't even pick a part to quote.
Goodness, I know this one hurt for you to write.
I love you, my friend.
Hugs to you

Sad life circumstances come, seemingly at random...and certainly to good people at least as often as to bad ones. Sometimes though, it goes when we make it go. I have confidence in you: you'll overcome it, if anybody ever did.

jellybeans: Thank you, my friend... I'm glad you liked... though I still think I'd poof that place into non-existence if I could... I keep trying. *S*

mytuesdaywishes: Thank you very much! *S*

garysgirl: It did. *S* Thank you, sweet lady... your loving heart is truly a gift in my life.

Ratleader: I have the best help imaginable. *S* Most of the power is gone... even visits aren't as tough... and sleep is no longer an invitation for reliving. *S* For that, I'm eternally grateful. *S* Thank you so much, my friend. *S*

You are a fabulous poetess, Ms. suthern.
The angst in this pulls at my heart strings, and the questions left unanswered left me somewhat unraveled.

This is pure poetry in my book!!!
Peace to you sweet lady~

Girl, I read this a few days ago, and darned if I know where my answer was.  Perhaps it's still resting inside me, because this hit me as hard on the second read as it did the first.  I know these feelings, and I know why you write them.  I'm proud of you.

Now, response, set in stone.
Or in blue.
Which has been known to poof.
LOL...

There is not a day goes by I don't ask at least one of these questions myself, and each time they hurt, as there is simply no answer.  One trick is putting it away in a place where it feels "comfortable", and bringing it out on a day it doens't like you have done here with such a heartfelt write.  The other trick is breaking the chain - which I know you have also done by who you are, and let me tell you I for one think you are one of the most beautiful people that crossed my life's path.  Know that you are not alone as I too know this painful memory.
