She wonders why
In wonders of whys
And I don’t have those answers
But sometimes they do flash by
In wonders of whys
And questions and sighs
And I could tell her
If I
Knew how…
But I don’t

And so
I sit and try with difficult sighs
As I choke on my tries
And knot bows and ties
Wondering why
I can’t say why of the whys
And I try
Real hard
To say…
If only I knew how to answer
In words…
But I don’t

So she wonders and I wonder
Does she cry
When sometimes I know
I cry
When I try so hard to tell her
The reasons why
But I can only sigh…
I know sometimes it hurts on her side
Does she know when it hurts on mine…

A poet is I…but a word in a sense of make-sense
Is not within me
Not for she
So I sit in wonder of what words make sentences
That make sense for the wonders of the whys
And they are not
They are not
They are
Not
Within me…

Wow. I do the same thing. I wonder if the other person wonders if I am thinking about them. It's nice that you said it for me, and probably for other people that will read this. Thanks!

Reminds me vividly of the days when my (then 2 year old) was always asking why.

Gosh, if we all had the answers, I guess
that speech would be a dying comodity....
replaced by know it all eyes and expressions.
