The shadows
don't love me anymore
she coos

While she rocks
back and forth
in her corner
at the edge of her lake
She sits at the edge
of the pieces of what's left
After they stole her sight
from her

What is there to see
but the fraying strands
vibrating to sound
only she can hear

Who will lift
the veil of guaze
wrapped around her intuition

Who will surround her
in a warmth
she must surrender to

Back to the shadows again--
where will she find
a flame to light
the way
into
a deeper reverie

If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried.
