Tay-Sachs Disease I do not have a golden tongue, My words drip not honey and cream, Mayhap fate's left my songs unsung, And there is no melodic theme. Yet sadder still then all of these, Is the child, who had not a voice! The tot taken by Sachs Disease, While men shouted, "Rejoice, rejoice!" I weep tonight for the blind child, Who was deaf and could not swallow, I cry for he, who never smiled, And yet my tears seem but hollow. At five I'd never heard of death, At five he drew his last gasped breath. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

You have willed your pen to spill a quiet tear... thank you. |

Thanks Sunshine...his story seemed so sad. I never knew him...but I had to write about it. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

I'm deeply touched by this poem, and the suffering that we try not to think about, but need to. It is exceptionally well written, and has reminded me to be more open to those in need, and I thank you...~S~ Accept these small gifts from my gypsy heart ~S~ |
