What is it to be male
that with our failures in life
we redefine success?
Have you ever asked?
I know that you have wondered.
Born without the need
for directions, instructions,
coupled with the unrepentant
yearnings to exceed in our excess,
puzzled by the fear and ignorance
of those who stumble
over what it takes to please a man,
we do sense such
understandings are for time
left to be wasted
by the others,
those who make up the distaff pole
of this bipolar lot.
We are not encumbered
by sense or sensibility,
and as such are not ashamed to be free
to believe and then discount,
by choice,
what is right before our eyes;
I swear to you,
in the tired cracking voice I've earned,
on all that I believe is holy in this life,
that being male can be
simply the greatest state of being free.
Even if locked down
and broken,
with the yang of rage
so far from reach
its name can not be spoken,
a man can shut his mind away
inside himself and facing the abyss
run
toward all that terrorized his every waking thought
corrosively consuming the very fibers of his soul;
yes, run,
with joyful madness gleaming in his eyes,
even if the only choice remaining
is the leap
and the ecstatic glory of the fall.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Icebox, I too agree with your sentiments and beliefs so well, dearest friend, mankind is definitely tainted with disillusionment and fault, but I guess the beauty in being a man is that we have much of an adventure to discover and realize the faults and each fall we make we grow and that is such a rewarding accomplishment to peel away each layer and discover new truths!
