PLAYING THE GAME I guess I've lived a lifetime Or at the least, a lot of years I've had a lotta laughs And I’ve had my share of tears. I've seen a lot of things Both, the good and the bad And, I've done a whole lot more Than a lot of people, ever had. I've lived many years of life Or, at least something like it Sometimes, it was the real thing And, sometimes, I had to fake it, I've had a whole bunch of loving And I have loved a little, too There were times, I just said it And, a few times, it was true. I've had a bunch of friendships But not too many, I called friend Some there, for a fleeting moment But few to last until, the end. I've lived a lotta years of life But, that's not what I call living Sometimes, I did the taking And a few times, did the giving. Sometimes I did the right thing And sometimes, I did it wrong Sometimes, more than I should've Enough at times, just to get along. There were times of, changes And some times stayed the same Once in awhile I won it When, I didn't even, play the game. I've lived many years of life But, that game is all but done And just before the final inning There's nothing to play, but this one. Del "Abe" Jones |
