and Still, the city sweats Seems like never-ending condensation Springs from eyes to walls. And still the city sweats. Water drips from windows Of lonely cat women And bitter old men. It drips from windows Where children cry Inside a bubble That never pops. And still The city sweats. Down the pipes Through the cracks Into the walls Within the air The city walls They sweat. I tell this to an old lady Being saturated in it, leaning against a perspiring wall She informed me, bewildered, astonished: The city does not sweat, child! She merely mourns. Only mourns... I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man. |

Thank you as always James Ethel: I'm glad you think so!! I wasn't sure about the end...It didn't sound like it really had closure to me. I'm glad you liked it |

Nan, Thank you!!!! It's always a major goal for me to get people to FEEL or SEE or HEAR parts in my poetry. It's something I've never been very good at, but I am working at it. I am so so so glad you liked this. And thank YOU, also, for saying the last lines were great! |
