There is a purpose
for the good
and bad
that life gives us

At times
the pain
seems unbearable
and then

I see
a family in mourning
a dog with three legs
a child alone

I shed a tear for their pain
not my own
and know
I will make it through

I kiss the warm fur
on my cats head
and see

There is a purpose
for the good
and bad
that life gives us

I try hard,  many moments and days to remember
just what you have written here.  For we have
lost perspective of what is good,  bad,
what is needed and what is just a want.

Thanx for the wisdom of this....

And I am sorry I don't read you more often,
for you speak much truth within your poetry.

Much truth and wisdom here, Susan.
Sometimes we need the bad to remind
us to appreciate the good.

Thank you for the reminder.

love of power the world will know peace.

Susan,

This reminds me that even though I may think that at times I got a "raw deal" - I really didn't.

The 3 legged dog line gave me a vision of an Alice In Chains cd cover's artwork.

Enjoyed! Well expressed.

there is great and significant purpose in all things, if only to remind us, how truly blessed we are, and what we have been showered with....

This was a very wise write...thank you

Thank you all!  All of you are way too kind.

Truth~ this was written b/c I have been having a "down" week and needed to remind myself of some things.

The three legged dog~lives across the street from me and I am convinced he has no clue he is missing a leg..that is what I need to remember...

  all of you!

Hi Susan...well done. Yes there is a purpose to everything. Our life experiences are where our writing comes from. I am sorry you are having a down week. Thanks for sharing the poem though...it was worth the read.

This was beautiful, hard to imagine a world where there is no suffering, no pain. But then, would there be no passion, no fire inside either? I do agree with you, there is a reason for all of it, a purpose. But sometimes, oh sometimes.. how can there be a reason for a grieving mother holding a dead child? There are those times.. when its difficult.   Great poem, thought provoking.

Susan - I agree that there is a purpose for the good and the bad, but geez, why does the bad have to hurt so much at times? But I have found that it too passes...

Susan,
It takes the long journey to find this perspective, and the wisdom you convey so well in all your works is so refreshing...and so very pure.
Fine write. TD
