Solitary Confinement

Copyright 1990 by:  Mark V Sheldon

Participants
In a
Commodity
Known as
Life:
A brief moment
In an ever-changing
Process
Where
The light of day
Succumbs
To
A shroud of mystery
As
Time
Progresses into
Twilight.

Another form
Of progression:
From
The facade
Of an exterior image
To the interior
Of an altogether
Different world --
That of the mind
Where
Images
Take a different meaning,
Where
Light
Is not necessarily
The same
As it is
Outside...

A form
Of darkness
Can envelop
The so-called
Familiarity
Of place and time,
Creating
A discrepancy
Between the
Accustomed
And the
Unacquainted...
A comparison
Between
Accepted knowledge
And
Questioning curiosity
Where
Normal boundaries
No longer
Apply,
And the only
Limit
To the
Completion
Of a
New reality
Is that of
Imagination.

Objects
And
Circumstances
Acquire
New definitions
Relating to
Perspectives
Of
Others than ourselves.
Views and concerns
Which may reflect
Ones felt
Or
Those never experienced.
The only true confinement
Is
That which is imposed
By one's self.
New horizons
Exist
As long as there is
Courage
To pursue them.
The path
And
Pace
Are set by
Those who participate
In
The commodity
Known
As

Life.

LeeJ, I thought you might appreciate this one -- it was the only one that came to mind that reminded me of your style, so I reposted it for you.

And thank you for the purusal, Raph.

KristieSue, I'm glad you enjoyed (this write "saved my hide" when I was in film school and my student film came back 80% under exposed...  but that's a different story... ).

Thanks Eric.

(giggles in delight) Oh my gosh, I love the little story you hinted out in your thank-you response of your film being 80% under-exposed, sweet friend, this had me going back to reading it a second time and I really enjoyed it much more! (big hugggsssssss) Sometimes it is more enjoyable to cherish images that aren't quite so visible, sweet friend, just to use your imagination and fill in the final details, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mark, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yes Noah -- truly a moment for the archives...  I ended up "channeling" this entire write the evening before I had to showcase my film which was this side of unsalvagable, and this write served as a "Rod Serlingesque" monologue recited in somber voice through a very large reverb, played on cassette to accompany the tragic excuse of an edited super-8 film project.  The punchline is that the class got all intellectual and analytical with it when I knew it was a P.O.S., but I chuckled and let them at it...  Ahhh...  scholastic memories...
