There was a time of great wars
Of knights and maidnes and folklore
A war spread throughout the land
Where the knights stood up and took a stand
They vowed to bring this evil down
And crush this evil to the ground

It came in the middle of the night
The knight's notice to come and fight
The fair maiden cried, please don't go
Please don't leave me all alone
My fair maiden, said the knight
Fear not, for I'm ready to make this fight

He told his maiden he would return
When this evil had been burned
Remeber the time we've had to share
And always remember that I care

The maiden had heard no news in days
She wondered if he had lost his way
She was in the garden planting flowers
When who should come riding to the towers

Sitting upon his galliant steed
Her handsome knight, oh could it be
He pulled her to him and kissed her lips
And told her all about his trip

He said to the maiden, I told you I'd be back
As soon as I gave that dragon a whack
Now my hearts forever yours
I'm your knight forevermore

Love it! Of course it has every element I need to enjoy a great story. Knights, maidens, and dragons! Well done angelblueyes. It is a great read.

Nicely done and with an exceptional ending.
You are touching on an area of poetry that
I have an yearning for,  can never get
enough of it.
