Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

0 posted 2003-09-14 07:55 PM

You’ll Be Here

If I can only hold,
dream another moment
you’ll be here

but a moment
can be
days
a lifetime

will it be
the same
then

that
almost-startled
turn, the
hurrysteps

arms full
of
anticipation

no more
seconds
to wait –

will it, can it?
will we whirl
into each other
swept like leaves
to wind, drawn
helpless
up into the draft
of our own fire?

but a moment can
be days, a day pass
quickly as a wrensong
and as sweet

and if I can hold
a moment
and another

lifetime
of suspending

you’ll be
here

As long as it's with someone you love it'll be wondrous.

How wistful and romantic this is, especially loved:

will we whirl
into each other
swept like leaves
to wind, drawn
helpless
up into the draft
of our own fire?

How beautifully you express your heart, Ed!

Sweet as the song of a sparrow...
Coos like the voice of a dove...
Haunting as the call of a loon...
Ratleader's a man in love!

That feeling is indeed unforgettable -- what I call "a brief infinity".  I agree with Corinne -- that's my favorite passage as well.

Nice work!

I read this earlier... but the werk monster was holding me captive... What it didn't know was how much pleasure another reading would give. *S* For once, I'm grateful to it. *S*

but a moment
can be
days
a lifetime
--------
will it, can it?
will we whirl
into each other
swept like leaves
to wind, drawn
helpless
up into the draft
of our own fire?

I have to ditto Marge...this is breathlessly beautiful. *S* And it's not quite fair being breathless when encountering EA's response... LOL
You excel whatever style you choose, my friend... but no one writes romance better. *S* Superb!!
