in the shadows

0 posted 2003-09-14 06:51 PM

Living in the dark content,
with the night wind
wrapped around me
as my only true companion,
I remember
how very much I am at home
within the shadows of the world.
The cool
moist evening earth between my toes
feels more alive at night;
the stars,
little pinprick windows to eternity,
flash in and out
behind thin threaded clouds
that drive like Mr. Toad
across the deep forgiving sky.
In these rare times,
when my Sister Moon sleeps late,
and monthly when she hides inside herself,
I am allowed to loose my soul
to run amongst the stars.

Very well written, a testament to how wonderful and enchanting the night can be.  Really liked these lines...

the stars,
little pinprick windows to eternity,
flash in and out
behind thin threaded clouds

Again, very enchanting icebox, thanks for the read.

Ice -

Regaining the perspective is only half of the journey. Well done, many great lines here, as with all of your pieces.

Mister Toad....man, I wish I'd thought of that..... An excellent poem from start to finish, but that's one I'm going to walk around with for a while

Isn't the night enchanting?  It truly is my favorite time...

When I was in the Navy I always volunteered to work nights...I loved it and I miss it as I go to work each morning in my little jacket...*sigh*

I loved this Icy..

Let me know when you decide to go out and
let the earth feel your toes.... I'll join
ya.  Excellent,  I could see and feel this
poem very clearly.
