~*~
You surely don't look your age
the doctor said to me
He went on and on about it
so I knew this he must mean

He said if he had a room full
of women lined up against the wall
To pick the ones who are my age
my name he would not call

This made me stop and think about
of how lately I've been told
That I'm looking younger every day
so OUR  AGE  doesn't mean we're old

At times I feel I am seventy-five
Sometimes I feel I'm sixteen
My actual age is just there
laying somewhere in between

It's how we feel on the inside
that the difference seems to be
And the love we share in our lives
makes happiness that others see

I am so blessed and thankful
for the love I have in my life
My family, friends, and my true love
help to ease lifes toils and strife

Since I have met my sweet Honey
and so in love we have fell
It seems I'm looking younger
for my age my smile doesn't tell

Age is only a number
my True Love says to me
So as long as happiness is on the inside
it will come out for others to see
~*~

LOL...I resemble this poem!
I know the stretch from here....to there
in mental question of "what age am I today?"
and of course, it's always relative to
what I did yesterday...LOL...

(smiles) Oh Ethel, it's so very true, sweet friend, whenever it is my birthday, I don't care what age I've become, what I care about is that all my loved ones are there celebrating I'm alive and that is all I need to be happy! (kiss on cheek) You shine with the girl in your heart, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

SharaRose, I do think you're right.
.
Thanks, Vicky. I'm glad that you liked it.
.
Michele, I am also proud of how good I look at my age...
and that I don't look it. I never had any problems with
the numbers until so many other people have so many problems
with the age difference between me and Gary.
I have another birthday next month, too...
but Gary also has one this month.
.
.
I appreciate all of you.
Hugs to all of you

Ohh Ethel:

yes exactly!
was just talking about this exact concept
see:  age is an earthly thing, it is the spirit that resides within us all that decides our paths . . .

Beautiful writing and beautiful mind
EXACTLY what I needed today
thank you

Sue, I love that!! That could be a wonderful poem in itself. I love your ideas, my friend, and the way you express them.

Gary and I feel the same way. He can express these ideas better than I can. He would be a great philosopher. Of the two of us..Gary and I...he is more mature in so many areas. More mature than most men I've ever known, regardless of their age. He has such a great mind.

Goodness, I didn't mean to say all that. I'd better hush...for now, anyway.
Hugs, my friend

Great! I relate to this too, dear Ethel. When love shines through our eyes, age is indeed marginal. Happiness is the best beauty care we can gift ourselves with.
And love is the key!
Thank you for this lovely poem.

So true, my friend, age IS just a number.. I can remember seeing my grandmother at 50, wondering how anyone could get that old.. but she looked much older in reality - my own mother at fifty seemed much younger. I think its our outlook on life, the way we see our self, and having someone in our life that makes us feel beautiful and perpetually young doesn't hurt any either!  Nicely done, beautifully written, bravo..

Oh yes, Margherita...I think that being in love gives a woman a special kind of glow. And, having others in her life who love her helps, too. You are right..... Love is the key. Thank you.
.
.
Becky, yes, that does help. When someone tells you how beautiful you are, it makes you feel beautiful. I often say that I'm glad that love is blind....or at least helps cover the imperfections. LOL  And, a persons outlook on things matters too. Thanks.
.
.
I really do appreciate both of you.
Hugs to you both

It's not how old we look,  it's how young
we feel.  That is all important.  Nicely
done, Ethel.  I relate very well to this.

LOL  Reb, it's a good thing we all don't have to return them because of the wrinkling.

And, wouldn't that be good, if when young, we did know the things we learn when we get older?
Thanks.

I couldn't agree with you more! My girlfriends age from 18 to 89--literally! The 18 year old (who looks far older than her age!) is more serious, mature, yet thirsty to learn and experience life. The 85 year old-- who looks not a day over 45--truly! (I would have thought her to be an angel but she has a very naughty sense of humor! lol ) is charming, and worldly, and full of sugar and spice!

Yeppers! The numbers don't mean a thing!

~ and you, Dear Ethel, have a very young spirit--but a very old soul...
