Calm, the night air.
A relaxing yet quiet coolness
caressing the skin.Waiting,
watching the stir of howling
winds yet far away. Monstrous
seas torn asunder by unseen
forces as the air shreds the
still of night.

Remembering the howl as
giant trees bowed and fell
to the waiting earth.
Changing the landscape ever
deftly with a pluck of a giant
hand, the swish of a open
palm.

The eerie calm, totally dark
without Edison’s prodigy to
spark the wires now lying
scattered like serpents awaiting the
uncoiling strike deep into
the flesh of civilization.

Watching, as this giant moves
ever slowly yet steadily toward
a place yet to be named. “Isabel”
the whispered name....Will you
turn the trees to twisted cords of
useless firewood? Will you bring
the boiling seas and the slithering
tide that rises slowly before you?

I wait, cautious and wary of this
dancing damsel. Will she be
the belle of the ball?

Dunc,
I hope your ready to run for cover! Very intense description of potential destruction. Well done.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Dang, but that's a great write, Barry.
Hang on tight, dear friend!
I'll keep this one safe, just in case.

Fantasticly descriptive write--full of energy and dreaded anticipation....

I hope Seymour drops by! I'd like to read his take on this poem about Isabel! lol

Well, you certainly followed my thoughts with this write...keeping my field glasses handy too...
If we lined every politician along the southern coast...could be enough hot air to change that northwest turn - south.

Yes, I'm waiting, too.  We never know where
these hurricanes are going, do we? There
have been a lot of unexpected turns in the past.
Stay safe, friend.

Oh, very, very good.  You gave rise to something that might be constant, or just a thought in motion...Very, very well done.
