Close your eyes and
look at me
~ at the me that is
inside.
I'm more my dear,
than just veneer,
~ that source
of manly pride.

You did say,
on our wedding day,
that your love would
last forever.
But when quest was won,
vows were undone,
and our marriage
you did sever.

You never looked
beyond the glitz,
I was show-cased
on your arm.
What I believed,
to be eternal love,
was your self-serving
charm.

I too was blind
and did not see,
the pages twixt
the covers.
If I knew then,
what I know now,
we'd never have been
lovers!

But since you've gone,
you've changed your mind,
and want what can't
be yours,
but I have grown,
new seeds I've sown,
and now I've closed
the doors.

Close your eyes
and look at me
~ at the me that
is inside.
I'm more, my dear,
than just veneer
~ that source of
manly pride!

Hi Linda, guess it's a case of just too little, too late! You have indeed become a woman of your own! God bless you and I pray you both do what is right for each of you.

You wrote this perfectly, Linda! And you know what, I think mine is changing his mind, too. He has been calling me.

Paul ~

I was happily married for many years, and we had two lovely daughters. I was being somewhat fascetious with this poem. I most definitely would have married him again, even if I had known beforehand the heartache that was in store for me--for the joy of our beautiful family I would not have wanted to miss out on. We are very good friends and he sees the real me these days--and he likes what he sees--on the inside as well as the outside. I am comfortable with our friendship but I could never be anything but a friend to him any more. I really did move on with my life.

skyshine ~

Have the men in your life read your beautiful poetry--then they will fall in love with your inside and well as your outside!

Q, that is so true!

~ the strangest thing is that my husband and I will always love each other. In fact, he recently gave me a birthday card and in it he wrote, "Linda, you're not getting older--You're getting better!"  He now sees the REAL me, and that is a wonderful feeling. I enjoy our friendship and our daughters are so happy that we can all be together without any tension. It was also important for me to show the importance of forgiveness to my daughters. Forgiveness truly is a gift we give to ourselves for it has brought the joy back into my life. The anger and pain are gone and I am truly happy with my new life.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Linda, I'm so sorry to hear of your failed previous marriage, sweet friend, sadly so many fail to see the beauty in the inside of ones heart and though I am happy that he now can see the person you are as a friend, I think it is wise that you accept him as a friend and nothing more! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, you speak with pure and honest heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
