Forty days and forty nights
I have paced
sea of mutiny
erase
grit of sand
palate awaits
no water to wine
This chalice I hold
is not mine

Blood fills my cup
and overflows
the rim of wood
carved by your own
hands, like mine
now stained by time
finger to lips,
"Hush, my sweet bride,
stay close to my side."

Now I lay me down to sleep
I count my blessings as I keep
a fearful watch
of things to be
like a promise torn
to me

My savior, are you listening?

I need to see
what lies ahead
before I tread
You asked your Father
the same I recall,
as I read
Just let me know
I need
a puzzle piece

to complete
or a paradigm
to trace
even an outline
of my face
before I begin
to completely erase
what is left
of me

Littlewing, this is wonderful...in this poem, I saw pieces of poems I started and never completed.  It is almost as if you sifted through the pieces and made my thoughts complete.

I love this!  I am keeping it...if you don't mind.

We are all looking for that puzzle piece to finish the puzzle, and it is really hard when our prayers aren't answered the way we expected.

Good write, Sue...

Sue- If your writing gets any better, it is going to be considered one of the three preventors (Illegal, Immoral, or fattening) All great things are one of these three, and I have yet to decide which for this one... maybe all three??

You know when I saw the title I was sure it was going to be about chocolate fudge but my goodness!  A double treat, free verse, and also this was truly pure divinity, the best kind, and much more important as it was food for the soul.  This was beautiful and sorry I missed it before.  Remember your balance - school, pips, school, pips

(smiles) Oh Sue, I'm so happy I found this gem, sweet friend, I was just getting back from Ireland the time you posted this and I was wondering where it was hiding! (kiss on cheek) Mysteries are abundant in life, but believe in your heart He knows why and will begin to make the grand design seem more clear to you each day, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sue,
In this past year plus I find so many emotions packed into this incredible write that seems far beyond your years. Such eloquence and depth that touch the deepest parts of me must be so precious a prayer to God. Thank you for blessing my life in such a rich manner. A keeper for all times.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
