A revised repost There will always be Septembers. Months of time that will end Summers And begin Autumns With days that dawn cool and crisp And set cold and chill. There will always be Septembers. When the school bell brings back The sound of children in their natural habitat. When nature’s last wind turns leaves From darkest green to palest red and orange. There will always be Septembers. And, we will go through them as we have before, With open eyes and hearts, Bracing ourselves against a winter too near While holding on to an Indian Summer too far. We will remember the words of the immortal Who said “The days grow short when you reach September” And, we will wonder again, just how he knew that. We will reflect on the passing of years As we hear the crinkle of the leaves once more beneath our feet; And, we will wonder just who takes them off the trees. We will notice that the sun sets darker off the shoreline As another day takes us closer to the final destination; Leaving us to wonder if we will see the next one. We will hear the call of the loon in the early morning fog As they search for the meaning of the song And, we will wonder, what do they sing about? There will always be Septembers. Just as there have been since time’s beginning. Days in months in years of history and life. But, there will never be another September Like that September. When the day dawned in peace and ended in war. When the screams of children at play Were replaced by the screams of people in pain. When the bells of school Were replaced by the bells of alarm. When the red was not on the leaves But on the sidewalks and streets of the city. And we braced ourselves not for the coming of Winter, But, for the coming of darkness. A darkness we thought would never come for us. And, we wondered, “How could it happen here?” We still wonder that. We did not see the leaves that day, For there were no trees. We did not see the sun set that day For there was no sky. And, we wondered if we would ever see either again. Now, we know that the sun rose again that next day. And, with it, so too did the world. A world forever changed in one bold stroke By the hand of a named evil That sought to hold us all in its grasp. A hand that we fought to be free of, As we had done so in the past. But one that will continue to grasp for us. Yes, there will always be Septembers. But, with the chill of Autumn they bring Will also come The remembrance of death And the promise of life. Peace is the only battle worth waging. |

![]() (big hugggssssss) Oh Moonlight Romeo, September has long been my "worst month" since I was a little boy, as I always had seizures occuring at this exact time of year and horrible nightmares linked with them, and my little sister almost dying from eczema one September and remembering the bright sirens flashing, and then September 11 only made my history of September worse! (sad sigh) Yes, there will always be Septembers, but if we can live on through the month each year, that only shows how together faith will fill us with strength, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

Where have you been? Moonlighting as a Romeo? Good to see you again. You managed to write with grace and sensitivity about a tragic event in history. That takes talent--and heart. ![]() EA |

MoonlightRomeo~ I remember thinking, as I saw this, that it was a perfectly lovely romantic title - There Will Always Be Septembers, conjuring images of the gorgeous Septembers of my past ... then as I read it I began to cry-in-remember of the terror of two years ago that engulfed us ...~ Very effectively penned, poet~ This thought jumped from the page - 'We did not see the leaves that day, For there were no trees.' So poignant~ Thank you for this~ I feel that my reply is inadequate to tell you just how very, very touched I am by reading this~ ![]() *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

Moonlight...I have to agree with my sister Marge...words somehow seem inadequate...you have written this with great sensitivity. Thank you for sharing. |
