Sometimes I see myself and I am a girl,
A child who has not yet....
experienced the cold, harsh world.

Sometimes I see myself and I am strong,
never a care or a fear....
I have always known right from wrong.

Sometimes I see myself and I am weak,
like a scared child that shutters
when lightning and thunder crashes...
too afraid to speak.

Sometimes I see myself and I am smart,
a casual smile from me....
and it melts your heart.

Sometimes I see myself and I have grown old,
remembering the stories of my life...
hidden feelings that I have never told.

Sometimes I see myself and I am sad,
neglected, forgotten, and pushed out
cry out for the comfort that I needed...
something that I never had.

Sometimes I see myself and I am good,
happy, funny, a straight A student..
I have always done as I should.

Sometimes I see myself and I'm in a love thats true,
as I discover my feelings
they grow stronger....
I love and would never hurt you.

Sometimes I see myself and I am me,
a girl, strong, weak, smart,
old, sad, good, and in love
I am beautiful...
as I see.

Shannon, what immeditaely came to mind is a tune by Bob Dylan where he sings/writes:
