Slam the window,
shut out the moon:
it's saying things
I don't want to hear,
calling things I can't allow

I can't bear the round of it,
the swelling yellow light,
that welling of gravitic grace,
the feel of soultide pulled
out of the depths I must deny

There can't be stillness
with the moon around;
the heart will move,
the lilting moonsong betray
down to a darkening tumble of pain

It's out there anyway, I know,
but tonight I can pretend,
block out the worst of it,
and for one sweet tearless night
think no thought of the moon, or you

This is excellent, but not even great poetry can deny the Moon.

I am sorry my friend.  I wish you peace.

but tonight I can pretend,

One of those nights is it???

I'm not blocking it out just yet...
but I might change my mind in the morning,
that doesn't mean I don't respect you... as the wonderful poet that you are!

You're going good and deep Mr. Rat~

I've got a couple things hurtin' on me these days, but when it gets right down to it, most of my hurting lately is for other folks I care about. I'm a lucky guy if I look at it straight-on (yeah, like I can do that....).

A different perspective here...but I like it.
Well expressed emotions, Ed.

Sometimes, the more we try NOT to think of someone, the more they're on our mind... entering our thoughts with the rhythm of our breaths. Anguish only comes from depth of caring... someone is fortunate to have you... however hard you try to deny the moon. Excellent work, my friend.

Ed...If it could be that easy to lock your heart, by just closing the window, you would be rich from teaching others how.  I hear it loud and clear in this poem, even in the morning clouds with no moon.

But, Ed, the moon has so many stories, we can't shut
her out. Look at the good sides of the moon?
Do you need a hug?

Well done, Ed.  What I liked best about this,
is that if you had left your name off, it could have been perceived to have been written by a man, or a woman...

and that's about as universal as it gets.

You know I enjoyed this one.  Thank you.

I have always been attracted to the moon and water...nothing better than sitting on the beach at night with a full moon...It is where I am supposed to be..

Don't shut it out...let it bathe you.
