Ecrivan here under another pseudo for a new computer: A hidden cache in the hole of a tree the nights we looked my brother and me Bo left them to be taken, we'd never know the nights we peeked in to the wooden hollow. hush young child, no need to weep the mockingbird call is yours to keep What a strange man-boy Bo was back then was much younger than him, not barely ten he'd stare at us, something had taken his voice away we'd always wonder why he'd never come out to play. never kill a mockingbird to hear its call the song of the bird announces mans fall My dad defended the rights of a negro back then poor soul ran away from a wrong sentence when my dad was routinely chided, in a law system he had confided he represented a man with another colour skin no question that he'd be from another family or kin. young child, wake up from your deep sleep the mockingbird call is yours to reap That night we returned from a ritual trend to found out the truth of our silent friend and I accompanied him to his door that night thinking how town folk reacted to him with fright. His salient trait was in the silent art of giving we learned from the gifts in his solemn land of living. [This message has been edited by wordwizard (09-11-2003 02:19 AM).] |

Hello Ecrivan...here I was, ready to send Word Wizard a lovely Mockingbird to go with the poem...but, sigh...I couldn't find one. Yes, you whisked me right back into the B&W of it all... thank you. |

I'm glad I opened this to read a new/established poet's work - Your theme speaks a wonderful message, as always - Nicely done word/ecrivan/wizard... [This message has been edited by Nan (09-10-2003 07:08 AM).] |

Karilea, Those black and white images at the end are particularly touching. Amazing to see Robert Duvall in this tender role |
