Slanted
The sun now slides from longer days
To a longer shine somewhere else.

Autumn slips
From the days of hot
And the sun moves south
Followed in migrating flocks
By those with wings

But
Icarus  flew too close
And waxed feathers in turn
Melted
Encouraging the fall
From the grace of ideal
Into a sea of knew not
So I would not ask
To fly on wings
And trace again
The need

To try once again
And touch the face of Sol

He turns his face now
To Others

Somewhere perhaps that it awakens lovers skin
To the sensual touch of warmth so
That like lizards they bask
Sun drenched in humid lives
Or slightly reddened from exposure
To the idea
Another could be so close
Could gaze on the eclipsed beauty
Of their soul
And still…
Compare them to the moons brilliant grace
Or the break of dawn on green

Such lovers we once were
Before the sun climbed too high
And we found it far too hot
To touch without being burned
And then found the shade
To cool…
Without a cloak to wrap around
Shoulders bearing scars

Other wars perhaps

Other dreams perhaps

Still when the sun leaves summer
I think of Lovers

And of you.

Well, you did two things exceptionally well...

for I was researching Icarus just
four days ago....as a backdrop for a poem...
but you did it better...

and you used the word "fey"...

Thank you.

the whole poem was "right"...it's just that two parts were exceptionally pleasing...   You lent the mood of Autumn a red carpet to dance in upon, soon to be strewn by the trees themselves...

Ron...As always you express your feelings so well using imagery that shows without actually saying.  A fine talent!

Capt. Ron, this....

Somewhere perhaps that it awakens lovers skin
To the sensual touch of warmth so
That like lizards they bask
Sun drenched in humid lives
Or slightly reddened from exposure
To the idea
Another could be so close
Could gaze on the eclipsed beauty
Of their soul
And still…
Compare them to the moons brilliant grace
Or the break of dawn on green

and this...

Such lovers we once were
Before the sun climbed too high
And we found it far too hot
To touch without being burned
And then found the shade
To cool…
Without a cloak to wrap around
Shoulders bearing scars

Other wars perhaps

Other dreams perhaps

Still when the sun leaves summer
I think of Lovers

And of you.

is pure poetry. I love it, Capt. Ron.

"Other wars perhaps

*sigh*

Will it ever end with...."and I feel your touch and know your heart is mine" ?

hmmmmm....well...

sad...but oh so beautiful as only you can do.

Ron ~~ Fey.

A fantastic word, once I looked it up as I had no sense of this word. Thank you.
I'm always excited when I learn new words.

As always, I love your poems and this one really drew me in and held my attention.

Hugs, Marti

Hear Blessings dropping their blossoms all around you.

So glad I found a few moments to drop in on you, Ron.  A wonderful read, my friend.
