Foolish
Expectations
gnawing
at my insecurities
chewing
what is left
of my fragile
state of mind

Sweet words
turn
venemonous
once they reach
my lips
how did this happen
when once
I savoured
each moonlit kiss

You filled me
with such
hollow promises
I was the
naive fool
to begin
to feel
each stroke
of hope

I'm one
to push
it all away
I'm one
to never
allow
to give
thoughts of love
another chance
to see the light of day

Now I see why

You turned
this Lady
into
a naive
love sick fool
expecting
more than
one can handle
with this fragile
state of mind

Silly me
I knew better...

I've been there... allowing past hurts to prevent all hope of future... but that just lets him stay in control and do more damage. Excellent write, lady... And I hope one day better comes along... and you know. *S*

a naive
love sick fool
expecting

Lady Godiva - what you have written is so very true, on both sides...

What if you were eternally optimistic, and just saw the best in the situation, never really thinking it would turn out bad???? :?
Or what if you have a sinking feeling it's not the thing to do, but your heart is far too gone to turn back? It happens. Sure does.
