Listening to every heart

The Noon Hour

At first I thought this simple book
This book of poetry
Was but a bit of heaven
Saved for the likes of me
Found it ’neath some dust and dirt
Found it in a store,
But what I found is worth far more
And fills my inner core…

A book of simple poetry
Something to fill my noon
As I harvested through the words
I found a lovely boon;
For each poem and its poet
Have a note towards the end
And now the words and meanings there
Are muses out on lend…

Burns' Farewell and Wordsworth’s Nature
Have poets, who, for me,
Left behind a bit more knowledge
In this book of poetry;
And here, impressions, and their thoughts
Are held in blackest print
Archaic words and bits of lore
Were left in lovely tint…

So this noon, this very noon, I sat upon my chair
And felt the words, and felt the words, of poetry so rare.

Karilea,

I love this.  Last year, during my lunch break at school, I would go to the library and read the great poets.

I finally decorated some parts of my classroom with many interesting quotes relating to education and some funny ones regarding PCs.  I am looking for a couple of poetry posters.  I want to see how this year goes.  Maybe next year, I can start a poetry club.  Wouldn't that be wonderful!  Oh, how I love words!

Sorry, I am rambling!

Thanks for the repost...loved it!

Patricia
