Standing still among the dead
a sword of valor, of crimson red.
A warrior’s tool to slay one’s foe.
A scything wield, a deadly blow.

Though now the field is void of life,
of battered shields, of battle’s knife.
Alone the sword shall there remain
till time is gone, again....again.

The raging tide now foaming pink
as lives are slain, as heartbeats sink.
Where maidens cry and sob the nights
in mourn of them, their chosen knights.

As centuries roll into the past
and skin has shed the bones at last.
A sword shall stand remembered well
as choir boys ring the old brass bell.

For from the war shall freedom rise
beyond the sound of horrid cries.
As nations grow, and warriors stand
to fight for home, their promised land.
