Etched in the illusion of time

0 posted 2003-09-07 10:26 PM

chilled by weightless air
under my canopy of branches
deep ebony stained
night's reverent blush
of shadows and regret

symphonies of eventide
form me a chant
mingled with summer's passing
lull
softly
the darkness cradles my heavy head

sweeter now the silence
but painted with sorrow
the bitter, bitter breaking
poetry lost to season's end
now

I feel
change
I am
the moon's vigilant daughter

weaving delicate hush
whilst fragrances fall
from pen
through ink black
onto sweet grass paper

the smell is ripe
with sentiment

this elegance is hollowed dreaming
for fear of dawn
to awaken?
cooler winds bring autumnal grace

oh, cherish these sterling-kissed evenings!
enraptured my soul
by the canicular infinitude
no more than wishes revealed
'tis true toil
to sleep
and fathom

the way
autumn's tears are shed
in pallid tendencies
fractured leaves
and waning sunlight
be her immortal lullaby

my soul remains with summer
dwelling
'twixt memoriam
beautiful fields of blended gold

I remember lavender
precious skies torn
from pure cerulean

bartered for a colorless firmament

oh harvest moon!
oh fading solstice!

one thousand eyes
all turn to bleed

with me

for my words remain in you.

For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.--"Romeo and Juliet"
