I couldn’t believe what I saw
   when I looked outside today.
When I woke up this morning,
well, I woke up this morning!
Even that’s a lot to say.
Anyway, like I said,
I saw it when I rose from my bed
and couldn’t believe it was there.
I mean, it always had been there.
But even after yesterday,
which was sure to scare it away?
I wouldn’t be here if I could stay away.
I know I can't hide,
Though I want so badly to hide.
I could only trust what they say,
   that “Tomorrow’s another day.”
And even with that warning,
I was still caught unaware
When I looked outside this morning
   to see it shining there.
In my cruel world of cruel men,
this morning, the sun came up again.

how utterly positive and uplifting...I saw the sun to, and it's raining here????  But looked like a brand new day to me...smiles and hugs

Hi! Welcome to Passions! Sorry about your problem with men, but happy to know that you still can see the sun shining! I always remind myself, that regardless of how dark the clouds can be above my head, the sun is still shining above them! You have spirit and a positive outlook!--and I'm glad to make your acquaintance!

Warm, welcoming hugs,
Earth Angel

Well, thank you for your feedback.  However, I guess now that I read it, I should have made that last thing about "cruel men" a little more clear.  I didn't mean men as in just males, but rather men as in all people.  I just don't want anyone out there thinking that I have a hang-up against men.  In fact, that line is really kind of bothering me now...

That's just how I read it, JB...and of course, anything to do with the Sun...and I'm on it!  LOL...Welcome to Passions!  Please, check your E-mail for a Special Greeting!

hehe...well at least you get to see the sun.  It has been hiding for days here.

But you're right, there's always that 'light at the end of the tunnel' or 'another sunny day' to lift us up.

great job

Welcome to Passions, I think whether you meant cruel men or a cruel man is irrelevant because the poem is so uplifting.
Write on.
