Written Exposure

I could never mess things up
In a little way
If I did it
I did it big

Two rules I broke
Almost simultaneously
And to this day
I pay with humiliation

I told myself
I would never love you
I knew who you were
And knew that wasn’t enough

But your kiss
Made me wanton
And your laugh
Made me alive

I ached for you
With every breath
And every beat
Of a heart resurrected

So I did what I do
I wrote about it
And gave it to you
Second rule broken

"I could never mess things up

..YES!  This is me, mama always said that I was the only one of her kids that couldn't just screw up a little...I had to rock the entire world with my mistakes.

"I told myself
I would never love you
I knew who you were
And knew that wasn’t enough"

...Oh Susan, this makes me ache inside.  When we are lonely, we often settle for far less than we deserve.

"But your kiss
Made me wanton
And your laugh
Made me alive

I ached for you
With every breath
And every beat
Of a heart resurrected"

...Just what a broken heart looks for, something in life that is sweet, and happy and makes us feel alive again.  Even though it is wrong.  And the aching...ahh, yes the aching.  That's what makes us keep going back even though our intuition tells us better.

Susan, this was wonderful, I'm ready for the next part.  You've created a monster here.

xxoo,
Tima

Susan, your chapter poems are intriguing, and you've captured our interest with emotions with which we all can identify.  Are you SURE there isn't a chapter 5????

Susan, like so many others here, I really relate to that statement about messing things up big time!!!!  I think it must just be the nature of a creative mind to not do something just a little...if you win, you win BIG, but if you lose, you go all the way to the bottom!!  Loved this, girl, and am on my way to Chapter 5!!!!  ~S~
