flickering fingers of green
catching breezes
set free by currents of the bay,

leaves strum the clouds, tap the sky,
the mother of silver tresses with
her daughter, the bottlehead blond,
sitting under awning on waterworn benches,

the beggars wearing gray,
line the stone statues, awaiting remains,
fly off in full bellies with clues
to where salvation may be found,

breathe in the journey of the wind,
its healing touch as it makes its way,

blessed this friday morning
a premature view of autumn,
realizations of years filling
the dunes as sands build time,

mother and child face to face
touching paths toward the center,
along the Queens promenade

Michele, this is so pretty. I really
love this part....
