Mikey and Gavin By Paul Wilson Today they shared a secret that no one else knew Mikey told Gavin, I can talk just like you How can that be... Gavin said to him a turtle can’t talk, all they can do is swim It was Saturday and the grownups were sleeping late so Mikey and Gavin fixed themselves a snack plate Mikey and Gavin sat on the sofa watching tv as he told Gavin…this people food is not for me What is this stuff called?…Captain Crunch!! why can’t I have some worms for lunch I guess I’ll just have what you’re having Mikey said...sitting on the sofa next to Gavin After a few minutes things got out of hand they had a cereal fight… and it was just grand There was Captain Crunch and milk all over the place from Mikey and Gavin playing chase Mikey had found a new friend today for sure he said as Gavin chased him across the floor A bond was made that day between them and he promised he would teach Gavin how to swim Gavin told him they better get this place straight his parents would soon get up from sleeping late i’ll do the dishes Gavin and you clean the floor about that time they heard a knocking at the door Looking out the window Gavin said Maw Maw Molly oh no I forgot she’s taking me to the picture show Hurry Mikey run and hide I have to open the door and let her inside Mikey went back to his home and laid on his log he fell asleep listening to a crooking bull frog The rest of his day was peaceful and slow waiting for Gavin to come back from the picture show ( Gavin is my 5 year old grandson) "To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you" [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (08-31-2003 12:36 AM).] |
