Exhumed

A danger lies in ignorance
in fear of things as yet unknown

The answers?
here...within your reach
Look closer
past the words you preach

With open heart
enabled mind
Listen...I beseech thee...

Learn...

For should you stay
the chosen path -
remain in darkness
preaching light -
content in
lack of understand

Humanity is lost...

So dig...

Unearth the mustard seed
renew its trust in sanctity
A pocketful of faith in need
Now turn the stone there underfoot

What lies beneath?

The ash and soot of those condemned
for nothing more than holding true
to that which in their hearts they knew

So different, they, from you and me?
Are we not sisters...brothers...free
to live our lives in harmony
unharmed by those who disagree?

Look...see the similarity?

They bleed...

So dig, I plead...yet deeper still
For buried there beneath the rock
the bones of lessons long forgot

Now brush the dust from Golden Rule
reminding us that tolerance
need be renewed in present tense
and love, above all things, exhumed

Sometimes I wish I hadn't been in French Immersion. This is one of those times. It isn't that I'm not glad I was in it. I really am thankful to my parents for putting me through it.... its just that it would have been helpful to me had I already known what "exhumed" was. *grin* That said, the poem hit me hard the first time I read it, never mind the second, when I was armed with the understanding of the main idea of the poem. (dictionary.com, baby ) Your wisdom is excellent, Vicky.

I love this bit....

The ash and soot of those condemned
for nothing more than holding true
to that which in their hearts they knew

I'll never forget you.... I know that much, despite my foolishness.

There are some people who don't need to hear the truth, because they speak it.

You are like that, vicky.

Love YOU, and not just for this, but because you are TRUE.

What a wonderful poem, a lesson in humanity, and something that should be given to every church member this Sunday in all of the spiritual books throughout the world.  Bring it up from the ashes, Vicky...it still stands golden, and true.

I am so Proud of you!

Vicky...Beautiful and stunning are just a few words that describe this poem.
It reminds me of whats going on now about the courts removing the stone with the 10 commandments on it from the building in Alabama

Wonderful write Vicki.

There are so many things that can be exhumed, if only we have the strength and the courage to dig.

This one is going in the library!

vlraynes...The most appropriate poem of our times. The golden rule so much forgotten in the heat of raging passions. Wars, murders, suicides, rebellion and unrest all the result of forgetting that love endures all, is patient with all and forgives a multitude of sins. ***Ivy Rose

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet friend, this would fit perfectly in the Spiritual Journies forum as it speaks a creed we all should follow! (big hugggsssssss) Unfortunately too many turn the seed into mustard and gluttonously devour it rather than with patience hold the seed and only imagine the robust flavor it can bring to the world! This is beautiful, sweet friend, you deserve extra special angel hugs for this touching write, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Vicky, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
