Photo From Eagles Signatures

There was a time in my life
when I hid my feelings
down deep inside my being

I was always smiling
the life of the party
of which there were many

I thought I was having fun
and a good time at all
these gatherings and parties

The only trouble was that
I was broken and crying
with tears inside

Inside where no-one could see
hidden from my friends who thought that
I was always happy with laughter

Afterwarads I would go home at night
I would cry and be
absolutely miserable with lonely

All this time when I was partying
and smiling, dancing, laughing
but dying inside

They didn't even know

Because I was the life of the party......

Oh Ethel, this was beautiful!

I wonder how many of us die silently, all the while wearing a smile that could shatter like glass at any moment.

This was a wonderful write, and a powerful message.

)))hugs(((

Ethel...Enjoyed. This reminded me of a song by Bobby Goldsborro " See The Funny Little Clown" He's laughing on the outside but crying on the inside. Thanks for sharing...Paul

Awesome, Ethel! I have known several people that could relate to this. The outside can often become a mask hiding what the inside truly feels...all is not always what it seems. You did this very well, miss

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Ethel, I understand this feeling ever so well, dearest friend, I believe we all need to get out there and have fun, though I am not much of the party type because they all seem the same, I instead love to take adventures, go to arcades, poetry readings, plays, and amphitheatres, the movies, so many things! (kiss on cheek) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, know now you have many friends who love you like me, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Hats off to you for being so strong. Wow. How do you do that? That's strength if I've ever seen it. As James Micheal said some things are hard to get past to be able to go to a party I admire your strength.

I always wonder when I see someone at a gathering who seems to be the life of the party. I wonder if they are really that happy, or do they ache inside like the rest of us? After playing music for many years, I learned how to be an actress, stand onstage and give people what they wanted to see.  My job was to be the life of that party. Your poem made me realize how much happier I am today, not having to pretend I am happy, but actually being happy!!  Thank you for this one, dear friend...~S~

This one is good, Ethel. I can feel your loneliness in this poem.

We do wear our masks so very well, don't we... never knowing how heavy a burden they are until we allow someone to see and accept the real person underneath. *S* Excellent work!
