Riding on thundering wheels, the big iron twin the feel of the wind in my face in my eyes reminding me I am alive, I left behind the pain and the fear of knowing I can't be as strong as the iron as free as the wind as man as the world tried to forge me to be. ©2003 by icebox |

Yes...it's one thing to know you're a man, and yet another to feel it....and hold that in spite of the limitations that life and genetics decree.... Sometimes we either have to be shown, or to show ourselves. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

What exceptionally powerful thoughts here, and ones that can help a person decide to be true to who they are. Excellent writing...~S~ Accept these small gifts from my gypsy heart ~~S~~ |

"as man as the world tried to forge me to be." Is that a perception? Because there are so many different types of men in the world..most of them needed in their diversity..I don't know..just babbling I guess. But I love you and love what you write and that you make me think... Susan |

Aenimal ~ Yes, sometimes it is all there is just to stand up. Thank you for reading and for taking time to comment. timothysangel1973 ~ *grin* Glad you liked it; it is true that I like to play with titles. It is a weakness in my character. Martie ~ *smile* Yes, the wheel of life is everything, isn't it? Thanks for reading. Ratleader ~ There used to be a multimedia presentation (before PowerPoint) that went around the country on the lecture circuit. It had so shtick title like "Being a Man" or something like that and it was full of photographs and recorded interviews. It ran about an hour and then the guy who did it would answer questions from the audience. Kind of an early gender awareness program. Anyway, I saw it twice, once by accident and once I brought someone to see it. I was always amazed at the reactions of most of the women in the audiences. Most were brought to tears and shocked and appalled at how men are taught in this society to see life in general and our individual lives in relation to the society. The most common comments dealt with shock at the stark loneliness of being male and the expectations put on males for what constitutes a successful life. Somehow your comment made me remember that. Thanks. passing shadows ~ Uh-Oh! Are you on that raft in the warm pool again!?!?? *GRIN* Sunnyone ~ I have often thought that the old adage of "be true to yourself" was missing the point; the trick is first to know the self, isn't it? *smile* Thanks for reading. Kaoru ~ Glad you liked it. Thanks for reading. Susan Caldwell ~ Oh...I thought men are all alike. At least that is what I have heard women say. *smile* I am glad you like my poetry; thank you for telling me. |
