I've traveled for some fifty years,
And never really known,
Where my life would lead me,
Or where the time had flown.

I've always envied those around,
Who've found some means to sway,
the thoughts and views of others,
To change the world some way.

For there's no doubt it needs changing,
It's apparent everywhere,
That half the world is starving,
The other half don't care.

But what to do to make one's mark,
This emptiness to fill,
Inspired things on canvas
May require certain skill.

Balladeer takes an easy path, (for him)
And be a poet choose...
For Balladeer's work is said to be,
Inspired by the muse...(and sometimes me)

The artist and Balladeer,
Are really much the same
They work and struggle for one's heart
And not for wealth or fame...

They use their art to illustrate
Those things they've seen or heard,
One used brushes of colored paints,
Balladeer paints with words.

In just a day or two at most,
It's all come very plain,
That poetry to Balladeer
Is like flowers are to rain.

He takes an innocent, simple thought
Then thinks and contemplates,
To work it, twist it, bring it out,
And give it form and shape.

Many verses of well chosen words,
To make our spirits soar,
Everyday of living
To heroic deeds in war.

Sad words that speak of tragedy
That brings tears to the eye
Humor, faith and dignity
In guidance from on high.

I'll be back to haunt you soon...

Toe, my sweet friend, this is one of your best I've read yet. I'm going to keep it because I kind of like you talking so nice to Balladeer.

I do have to admit, though, that I love to hear you and him going back and forth to each other. I'm so glad that I know it's all in fun, though, and that you and Michael are very good friends.

So you didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel either, eh? So now you get a second chance. Hope it doesn't spoil all our fun. You have no idea how worried I have been about you. Your situation sounded scarier than my own. At least I lost no blood! I wish you peace, health and quick return. Okay, the quick return was for me so I could have back to harrass. Be well...SOON!

Well, I don't know what's happening...
It isn't very clear.
It seems someone has used the name
Of good old Balladeer.

I saw it in Announcements
And hung my head in shame.
Someone was speaking well of you
And using my own name!

Well, everyone knows better than
To think that would be me
Since it's well-known by everyone
You are the enemy!

I do appreciate your words
But, Toe, come to your senses!
You're giving me these accolades
Under false pretenses.

Next thing someone will say to me
"Hey, Toerag is your friend!"
And we'll be having beers together..
Where will it all end????

So let those arrows fly, my man.
I welcome every minute.
The only thing worse than a world with you
Is a world without you in it!!

Don't you EVER scare me like that again, Toe. There's one breed of person the world has too few of....the breed that loves his family and country, holds honesty and integrity as important values and has the ability to make people happy and the world a little nicer place to live in. That breed is you, Toeman, and I respect you as much as I've ever respected any man in my life...I would ALWAYS share a beer with you (or at least a grape Ne-Hi).

Now enough of the hearts and glowers....let's RUMBLE!!!

Toe, I enjoyed reading all the replies in this love fest for you, our beloved rascallion!--a regular toerag! The one from Dear Balls of Deer got the tears welling in my angel blues!

This poem really tugged at my harp strings! We were close to losing you! You are needed down here, far more than you are needed up there!--or would that have been DOWN there! lol

I'll keep up with the prayers and distant healing! A little added insurance never hurts!
