I tried to give Kaoru's challenge a try, and here is what I came up with. I'm not sure how much I like this poem right now, but here it is anyway...

I have memories of different activities or things tied with places, people, or events, but the morning dove coo is the only sound that is obviously associated with a place in my memory.

---

“Coo, coo”
The morning dove song…
Somehow echoing
Peace in my mind
A place I belonged
Now left behind

“Coo, coo”
The only sound I know
Left in a place
At home in memory—
Not too long ago
In the pine trees

“Coo, coo”
Memories of joy
Of warmth and smiles
One never felt alone,
When I was just a boy
In the house
My grandparents made home.

Ben, I really like this poem. It has a warm homey
feel to it. A challenge well met.
