(for those of you who don't know, muys is Titia's mother and a member of the poetry site whose heartfelt and sincere poetry is a pleasure to read. She will turn 92 this week....)
.
.
.

Eight years after Orville Wright and Wilbur made the scene
By doing something no one in the world had ever seen
With making that first airplane flight at Kitty Hawk that morn
On the other side of the ocean, little baby Muys was born.

When Muys was only one year old, the Titanic made the news
By sinking from an iceburg on it's trans-atlantic cruise.
So many people perished by the time that it was done
But, far away in another land, Muy's life had just begun.

She saw the Soviet Union created back in 1922.
When NBC was formed in '27, she saw that, too.
The first talking motion picture showed when she was just 16...
Saw the first Academy Awards that honored stars of stage and screen.

When Muys turned 20, construction finished on the Empire State.
The world was in the Great Depression, not a pleasant fate.
The Dust Bowl plagued the western states and caused Steinbeck to write
The Grapes of Wrath to show the world the western farmer's plight.

When Muys turned 43,a side-burned, big-lipped kid named Elvis
Made rock & roll the fad with the gyrations of his pelvis.
She watched as Sputnik launched to be the first thing put in space
And she was 58 when Armstrong walked on Earth's moon's face.

So many things our Muys has seen in her years - two world wars,
The Great Depression, great inventions, man conquering the stars.
Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, D-Day, countries rise and fall,
It had to take a valiant spirit to get through it all.

She raised a family through it all from her strong sense of will
And, even though she's 92, she isthere for them still.
How hard could it have been in Europe during those war years?
You won't hear Muys complaining and you won't see any tears.

Instead there'll be a glowing smile for every one to see
And wondrous thoughts and sentiments in lines of poetry.
She is a walking history book, a treasure of such worth
She is indeed one of the nicest wonders of the earth.

So, Muys, I raise a glass to you, on this, your special day.
May happiness surround you...may good fortune come your way.
May God keep smiling down on you and, though you're 92,
There is a balladeer right here who thinks the world of you!

Birthdays are made up of cherished memories,
times of joy, and magical hopes for what the future may bring.
On this special day, may you feel the warmth of friendship,
the miracle of love, and may your heart overflow with a wealth of dreams.
Happy Happy Birthday Muys!!

Come here Deer and I'll knuffel you till you scream for help! I haven't been on today and only just saw your beautiful poem for my Mommy Muys.

Oh she'll be delighted to read them all, cause Nan is putting them all together on a webpage (sweetest girl ever)

She isn't feeling too well lately, so she will be at home in stead of roaming the country with me in our van.

She's a tough ol' lady and I know she loves you all dearly.

Thank you so much my dear deer friend.
I always knew you was the best.

Balladeer...A loving tribute to Muys on her birthday. I would love to have seen everything that she has in her life and be able to write about it. Your words tell us a little of what she has seen. Enjoyed...Paul
