Would you rather use a knife
As you cut away my life?
Your words are much too sweet
To kill me off complete,
You leave me dangling and confused
And feeling rather lost and abused
As I watch you walk away
After those words you had to say
That tore my soul apart
Ending what I’d wish to start.
It should have been a knife
That ends the hoping beat
Of an offer refused,
Stabbing through the heart.

Thank you, inkedgoddess,
Pleased you were able to get some enjoyment from my words
And glad you took the time to respond.

Thank you, minoune,
Yes, too many time have I stood with a heart in my hands
(figuratively speaking) from the cut of words
you are very kind in response.

People I have known just like to take little chunks of my heart...I imagine they are all somewhere comparing pieces, laughing uncontrollably...jerks...

Loved the write!

Thank you, Susan,
Glad you enjoyed my writing
Someday maybe someone will give you a heart
I fear it’s too late for me, but I hope not for you

there's been many a time I had wished that the other person would have just gone ahead and used the knife instead of the awful words.  Somehow a physical cut will heal, but those words stick in your head forever! Great write, Prof...~S~

I've been here several times too.It would've been easier to take the easy way, but we are stronger than that and we shall live again.

I have to agree...
Knives seem much better at times.
I appreciated you sharing your
poem with me.  It reminds me that
others understand and can relate.

Thank you, Lotus Breeze,
I am glad you can take something from my words

Thank you, Sunnyone,
I’ve always been able to accept the physical pain better.
Perhaps it’s because I am more familiar with it,
Pleased you enjoyed.

Thank you, angelblueyes,
We hope we are stronger, each cut makes it so
Glad you liked my words

Thank you, passing shadows,
For taking the time to read and respond.

Thank you, jbsoria,
I am glad that you enjoyed and related
