Antique Romance

Against a wall, a wooden desk,
richly polished to compliment
the presence of precious stationary,
contributes to the set piece
of which it is part.
Soft, white, the texture of the wall's reach
yawns patiently between nascent thought
and expectant sleep in the room adjacent.
The conflict between a blank wall,
alive with tongue flicks of candlelight,
and a vacant bed sheet
cannot be understated.

Bob

I love the rich fabric of these places of importance....made real by your pen.

I have rooms like that...and one with an antique secretary...

now to light a candle and watch it flicker
might fill some of that emptiness with thoughts~

wonderful!

i love the tongue flicks upon the blank wall, I feel the pain of loss re. the empty bed sheet...am i supposed to? others don't mention it.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
