Facing forward
or
almost to the side.

I could tell
she'd been crying.

"Must be hard",
I thought.
She welcomes
crowds of strangers.

"Must be hard
to sit there
with a smile
on your face".

Maybe
she was scared,
or lost a loved one.
Perhaps
she was frustrated
with her lack
of funds.

Such a
boring job,
matching costume
and white hat.

Always welcoming
even rude one's,
in her name
tagged vest.

She'd been crying,
I noticed..
So I
went somewhere else
instead.

Gotta love retail work no? On my worst days I still had to fake a smile and show people where to go to get what they need..until my last night where I told the manager where to go

Meghan- You wrote this so impeccibly that I had to read it again just to be sure... The visuals of walking and leaving this girl to her thoughts... wonderful.
