*** This is about my first winter in Huntington, Long Island, NY. Hope you like it.*** Huntington Bay Ascending taunting knoll streets Rife with winter stillness Lined with naked birch, elm and other leafless beings This soul yearns to soar above them all Then dive below to an icy darkened pond Still beyond this winter blue realm One must pay homage to a watery mistress For her only companions Are a jealous poet and some silly gulls Consider the mental relics of this journey Then properly label it Huntington Bay I have only my genius to declare! |
